ORIGINS: The Book of Genesis
The Beginning and Meaning of Everything that Matters
Creation: Days 1-3
What can we conclude about the meaning and purpose of Genesis 1?
- All things that are, have been created by God.
- Everything that is, is distinct from God, and also distinct from each other.
- God is the One and Only Creator
He doesn’t need to prove Himself,
He is completely Sovereign,
He knows what He is doing,
all that He does (including, the order, distinction, and function of all things) is good,
He doesn’t need His creation,
His creation is most definitely dependent on Him,
He is the determiner of all things.
- God’s creative work (including its form [identity] and function) serves as the foundation for properly understanding our identity and function as creatures made in His image.
