In Sunday’s sermon, Chan brought up an excellent question in reference to Acts 3:11-26 – why does Luke not only include that Peter spoke at Solomon’s Portico, but his content and intent as well? Well, acting boldly upon an illustration that God hands him on a silver platter via the healing of the lame man in vv. 1-10, Peter proclaims Jesus as the Messiah who brings blessing by faith to those who repent and believe.

I’ve been struck at two practical points this week as I’ve reflected on Peter’s Acts 3 sermon–1) just how willing am I to follow Peter’s bold example in proclaiming the Gospel and 2) am I looking primarily to Christ and His blessings this week or am I looking for blessings on my own fleshly terms?

Perhaps I’m not necessarily supposed to go preach open-air style as Peter did here, but I do know of people in my life that I could bring the Good News to tomorrow if I would so choose! Perhaps I’m not exactly like the unbelieving Jew in the passage who had rejected Yahweh Himself in favor of Barabbas, but I do know I have tendencies toward fleshly, sinful comforts in favor of God’s far superior blessings. 

Will you join me this week in heralding our Savior’s Gospel work and pursuing Him and His ways as our greatest source of blessing rather than the cheap counterfeits our flesh tends to settle for? Let us walk in true love for our God and the fruit of true repentance!
