A famous movie scene… ”I want the truth!”  “You can’t handle the truth!!”

As fallen, finite, ego-centric humanity we are bent toward seeing, believing, and declaring truth only from our own perspective, our own interpretation, our own experience; and for our own benefit.  Truth is not relative in this way.  There is A truth.  And it is relevant to each and every one of us.  It is relevant to me, and it is relevant to you.

The reality of truth is far more than we can handle…on our own.  Therefore, we create our own version of truth that is easier for us to handle…on our own.  And then we manufacture a truth about others that is easier for us to handle…on our own.  But where do we find ourselves when we seek to do things ‘on our own’?  We find ourselves in wickedness “far from salvation” (v.155).  We are dead in our trespasses and sins (Eph. 2:1).  We are lost and gone astray (Is. 53:6).  We are without hope and without God, in the world (Eph. 2:12).

Psalm 119:160 rightfully declares, “The sum of your word is truth,”.  This is the reality truth!...God in his Word.  On our own, we are crushed by it.  In Christ, we stand up on it.  We must fall on it and be broken (Matt. 21:44)

Will you help me to seek God’s truth?  Will you help me stand up on it and not be crushed by it?  Will you help me not try to ‘handle the truth’ on my own?  Will you help me be humble and submit to God’s ways?  Can I help you as well?
