Our ‘Amazon Prime’ expectations for life just isn’t how God works. God is not an Amazon delivery driver who will deliver your answer of your prayer request in two days’ time. We have this pleasure and convenience built into our society, but it’s not built into God’s promises nor should it be expected in our prayer requests. Waiting is a virtue that we all have to be sanctified in even more. Joseph waited long for God to bring him up out of the pit. Did God forget him? No, of course not! Was God’s timing for Joseph to wait years on end before his situation resolved? A confident, yes! Why though? God didn’t provide this answer; nor does God need to provide an answer for your waiting.
What are you waiting for? An answer to your prayer for your neighbor, coworker, or family member to get saved? Your trial to come to an end? You to be sanctified? A job promotion? The list could go on. God hears and knows. Just as He knew Joseph was waiting, He knows you are waiting. Continue to be dependent on him. Remember Joseph. Have patience.
“But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.” (Galatians 4:4-5). God sent your redeemer at the right time. God promised Jesus would come all the way back in Genesis 3, near the beginning of time, and yet Jesus was sent at “the fullness of time.” If God knows how to plan the salvation of the world, God knows how to plan your life and the moments you must wait.
How will you grow in your waiting this week? Ask me how I am growing in my waiting.
