Pastor Danny Capon grew up in a Pastor’s home and came to faith in Jesus Christ through the faithful, loving ministry of his parents. After completing his homeschool education in Carroll, Iowa, Pastor Capon attended Faith Baptist Bible College and Seminary in Ankeny, Iowa. He received his B.A. in Pastoral Studies in 2004, followed by his Master of Divinity degree in 2007. It was during his time at Faith that Danny met his wife, Brenna, and they were married in 2003.
Danny and Brenna became members of Anchor Baptist Church in 2002 and began serving in the college and career ministry, with Danny eventually becoming the primary teacher and leader of the group. He transitioned to serving in the Student Ministries in 2009 and Danny joined the staff full-time as the Assistant Pastor in 2011. Pastor Capon accepted the call to be the Lead Pastor of Anchor Baptist Church in July of 2015 and was installed the following September.
Pastor Capon and Brenna live on the east side of Des Moines with their three children; Evie, Lily, and Austin.
Nate was born and raised in NW Iowa in the small town of Ocheyedan, with one older sister and one younger brother. His parents were faithful to teach him God’s Word and exampled a life of faithfulness to the LORD. It was not until spring break 2000, during his freshman year at Iowa State University, that Nate repented and believed that Jesus Christ was his personal Lord and Savior. After receiving a B.S. in Psychology from ISU in 2003, Nate had a 20+ year career in psychiatric rehabilitation at Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines.
In 2001, Nate covenanted in marriage with Sadie, whom he met while at ISU, and they now have 5 children (Creighton, Addyson, Tyson, Landon, Weston). Nate and Sadie have been members of this church since 2010. Following a 1-yr pastoral internship in 2021, Nate served as Ministry Coordinator in a part-time capacity for 2 years, and is now on staff full-time.
Dan was born and raised in the Kansas City area and was saved at the age of six. He met his future wife, Beth, in high school; they later attended Bible college together. They have three children: Eric (Courtney), Erin (Randall), and Jon (Lindsay), and three grandchildren: Nori, Keira and Oliver.
Dan has attended Anchor Baptist since 1972 and joined the staff in 1988. He is responsible for administrative oversight of facility, finances, personnel benefits, insurance and legal issues, and human resources.
Joelle grew up in Marion, Iowa and was saved as a young child through the ministry of Grace Baptist Church. She met her husband Craig at church, while studying at the University of Iowa in 1986. They have two adult daughters, Bria and Jayde. Joelle has attended Anchor Baptist since 1995 and joined the staff in 2020.
