"It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praise to your name, O Most High; to declare your steadfast love in the morning, and your faithfulness by night...to declare that the LORD is upright; he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him."
~ Psalm 92:1-2,15
Why is it that God establishes, nourishes, keeps and flourishes the righteous?
This psalm says it is so that we would declare the uprightness of the LORD (v.15); that we would sing and give thanks for his name (v.1), his steadfast love (v.2), his faithfulness (v.2), his works (v.4), his thoughts (v.5), his judgments (v.7-9), his blessing (v.10), his care/provision (v.12-14) and his righteousness (v.15).
This psalm is bracketed by verses 2 & 15 with the word “declare”. The psalmist starts in verse 1a and concludes in verses 12-15 by addressing others. In-between, he addresses God and demonstrates/gives evidence of/examples what he is commanding and encouraging others to do…to declare the goodness of God. This act of declaring is to be a regular rhythm of our life, morning and evening (v.2), essentially consuming the totality of our lives (v.14).
Give thanks this day, and every day; sing praise to the name of your God Most High!
