"Worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness; tremble before him, all the earth!"
~ Psalm 96:9
We are to worship the LORD in fear (v.4) and trembling (v.9) because of his greatness (v.4) and holiness (v.9). Our God is the only God, there is none other (v.4-5)(Isaiah 45:18). Yahweh is the God of splendor and majesty, strength and beauty (v.6). He has created the heavens, the earth, the sea, the field and all that fills them; and they rejoice…they roar…they exult…they sing for joy (v.11-12). Creation groans and so should we for our full redemption and renewal (Romans 8:22-23; 2 Peter 3:10).
God's intention is, always has been and always will be to claim all of the nations (v.9-10). He will return in the person of Jesus Christ, to judge (John 5:22; 2 Timothy 4:1; Acts 17:31; John 12:48) with authority (v.10), equity (v.11), righteousness (v.13) and faithfulness (v.13).
We always have a new song to sing (v.1); because of his name (v.2,8), his glory (v.3,7-8), his majestic works (v.3,5,10) and his salvation (v.2).
We serve a great God!
