"The works of his hands are faithful and just; all his precepts are trustworthy;"

~ Psalm 111:7

 

In this corporate psalm of praise, we again see how God’s Works and God’s Words are inseparable.  They are perfect in integrity and harmony; there is no conflict or discrepancy between them.  His works are to be studied/delighted in (v.2) and remembered (v.4).  His word is to be feared/trusted (v.7,10), practiced (v.10) and performed with faithfulness and uprightness (v.8).   They are established forever and ever (v.8).

Both his works and word are to be praised forever (v.10).  This is because both his works and word are revelations (expressions) of his eternal character (v.4,6,10).  In them we see God himself.  Both God’s works and his words should ultimately lead us to fear HIM, which is the beginning of wisdom (v.10; Prov. 1:7, 9:10, Job 28:28).  This wisdom means practice, which leads to “a good understanding” (v.10).  This good understanding leads to eternal praise (v.10).
