"Our God is in the heavens; he does all that he pleases....May you be blessed by the LORD, who made heaven and earth!"
~ Psalm 115:3,15
A psalm of so many deep truths and strong challenges!
How prone we are to want the glory, but there is only one who is steadfast in love and faithfulness to whom glory is due (v.1).
There is no reason, we have no excuse, for why the nations (the world) would look at us and say, “Where is their God?” (v.2). But is my life a life that leaves no doubt that there is a God (v.3)?...that this God is at work in my life (v.9-11)?...that I fear (value/worship) this God and center my life around him (v.11)?...that I am blessed because of him (v.12-15)? Far too often it is not.
What are my idols of “silver and gold, the work of human hands” (v.4)? How am I trusting them and becoming like them (v.8)? They are all blind, deaf, dumb and lame; and so am I when I give my heart to the things of this world rather than Christ.
“Our God is in the heavens; he does all that he pleases.”(v.3) He is pleased with man to dwell (John 1:14; Colossians 1:19). He is pleased to bless (Ephesians 1:3-9). He is pleased to save (1 Corinthians 1:21; Zephaniah 3:17; Luke 15:7)). He is pleased to have us presented before him blameless (Jude 24)
Am I dead or alive (v.17-18)? Apart from new life in Christ by the regenerating work of the Spirt at the call of the Father, I am dead and unable to praise/bless the LORD. The fact that I do, is evidence of my salvation! Amen!!
