"If you, O LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, that you may be feared."

~ Psalm 130:3-4

We are still in the Songs of Ascent (11 of 15). Today’s psalm is noted as a psalm of David and is themed upon waiting, hope and redemption. Verses 3 & 4 (cited above) are a succinct and poignant description of the reality of:

1) the holiness of God;

   2) the condition of man;

       3) the grace of the gospel;

          4) the purpose of existence.

Sections of Scripture like these two verses make me pause, reflect and worship. I encourage you to take time to further meditate on them as well.

Our God hears our cries (v.2), provides for us while we wait (v.5), is our actual hope (v.5,7), loves us with a steadfast love and provides plentiful redemption from iniquity in his Son Jesus Christ (v.7-8).

It is by his Word and through his Spirit that he gives the gift of faith. This faith allows us to confess our sins, turn in repentance and walk in the newness of life provided in the blood of Jesus. I pray that you are rooted and grounded and forgiven in Jesus.  Do not lose hope but instead continue in faithfulness, encouraging one another and bringing glory to the Name of the LORD!
