"Come, bless the LORD, all you servants of the LORD, who stand by night in the house of the LORD! Lift up your hands to the holy place and bless the LORD! May the LORD bless you from Zion, he who made heaven and earth!

~ Psalm 134:1-3

This is the last of the Songs of Ascent.  This section of psalms began in Psalm 120 as a cry of distress, a plea for deliverance in the midst of persecution and tribulation.   This psalm is a fitting conclusion, focused on the praise and worship and blessing we are rightfully to give TO the LORD who has made us to stand in the midst of the darkness of this world.  He has heard our cry and delivered us!

The end of Psalm 133 made clear that God has given us THE blessing, eternal life in Jesus Christ.  This final Song of Ascent then shows the proper response to having received THE blessing.  We are to bless the LORD, lifting our hands in worship.

The psalmist concludes by offering a benediction (a statement of blessing) on those who belong to the Creator God.
