"I will give thanks, O LORD, with my whole heart; before the gods I sing your praise;"

~ Psalm 138:1

There is a precious and very great promise found in this psalm.  There are also many truths providing the foundation, framework and fullness of this promise.  And there is a response…we are to bow down (v.2), give thanks (v.1-2,4) and sing praise (v.1,5).

2 Peter 1:3-4 says, “His diving power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.”

This promise, as found in v. 8, is that “The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me;”.  He will not forsake (v.8), he will preserve and deliver (v.7), he regards the lowly (v.6), he answers and strengthens (v.3), his steadfast love (hesed) endures forever (v.2,8).

The LORD, in name and word, is exalted above all things (v.2).  Won’t you exalt him this day with your own life, in word and deed?  This is his purpose for you.
