"Let a righteous man strike me - it is a kindness; let him rebuke me - it is oil for my head; let my head not refuse it."

~ Psalm 141:5a

This is another psalm of David and another psalm in which he cries out to the only God that he knows will listen, hear and respond.  The only God who is righteous and just and capable of responding.

Despite his boldness is approaching the LORD (v.1-2), David is tempered by a recognition of his sinfulness (v.3-4).  Especially as it relates to the words that may come from his mouth…words that are the overflow and evidence of his heart.  He recognizes the inclination toward evil within himself and so asks for discipline and rebuke from the righteous (v.5).  He seeks a right perspective of hating sin and evil deeds.

And he ends this psalm with a request for safety and security within the LORD himself (v.8-10).
