Here are some prayer applications from the sermon on Sunday, November 6th 2022.  As a reminder, the text was 1 Timothy 1:12-17, the theme was "The Glory of God's Mercy".

All of creation exists for the display of God's glory.  You are part of God's creation and therefore you exist to display the glory of God.  We see from this passage, that as believers, we have been appointed to be a greater display of God's glory.  We are to "praise Christ...for his unmerited mercy...for his perfect patience...and for his character shown in salvation"

This praise is to be a grateful praise.  Grateful because God's mercy to us is completely undeserved and fully dependent on him.  Grateful because his perfect patience was/is for the purpose of salvation.  Grateful because his work in us displays the glory of God in new and better and brighter ways.

This grateful praise should be evidentially lived out in our lives of course, but it also must be voiced to our Father in Heaven in prayer.  I encourage you to gather with others and pray as follows:

  • Pray that God's unmerited mercy would be your motivation for faithfulness and the source of your strength.
  • Pray that you would be a display of Christ's perfect patience and that you would have the same patience (for the purpose of salvation) with unbelievers as God did/does with you.
  • Pray that you would stay near the gospel so as to not forget the light it gives, that you would honor and glorify God forever and ever.

The grace of the Lord has overflowed to you with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.  Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of which I am and you are.

Praying for you all!
