Our God is supernatural (outside of the nature of creation) and prayer is our access to the supernatural. Our God is an acting God...he has acted, is acting and will take action. God has designed for prayer to be a means through which he will accomplish his supernatural acts. Beyond that, prayer is a means of preparing our hearts for God's supernatural action.
When we pray, and when we pray with one another, we anticipate and ask for God to take action as he says he will do, and consistent with how he has taken action in the past. We also request to co-labor with God, and one another, in the outworking of the answers to our prayers. With this being true, our spiritual eyes should then be open to see God in action; being ready, willing and able to participate, and not being surprised or completely oblivious. We will then be prepared to give glory to God for what he is doing as he is doing it.
Throughout God's Word, prayer is presumed to be a part of the life of a believer. In fact, there is great witness throughout Scripture that this is true. In the New Testament (especially the book of Acts) there is much witness to corporate prayer. Prayer should both define and equip us as believers in Jesus Christ. Do not miss out on the blessings that come from being people of prayer.
Regularly meet with and pray with one another according to God's Word and his Works, asking him to take action in specific things, with specific people, to specific ends. Ask God to equip you to have eyes to see and ears to hear and hearts prepared to participate with him in his supernatural answers to your prayers, and all to his glory.
